Critical Theory 2 Archive discussion

Michael Newman's discussion on archives was enlightening and engaging . It particularly meant a lot to me because I've spent much of my life archiving things and my work on the scrolls is in itself archiving and documenting.  We were asked to create an archive as well as find an example of one. I had brought one of the presidential boxes I store at home of things that have sentimental value to me. The "Kennedy" box had my G.I. Joe action figure, a couple of wrestling magazines my dad gave me, a self portrait my son drew at age eight and several political buttons and photos.

Many of my classmates brought in archives such as purse contents, voice recordings, hair samples and documented things that happen over the course of the residency. One student (Becky) used herself as a human organism as an archive.

There was also the ongoing student project in which one student creates a head and another creates a body. That archive has has been passed on through time to a classmate that I contributed to.

I blogged before about the archiving at a local comic book store the Million Year Picnic.
